Unable to join - invalid meeting ID

Reason for problem

Zoom has a bug so that old meeting ID's that you have used previously can get stuck in your computer's memory, and even though you entered the right meeting ID when you tried to join the meeting, it still tries to use the previous meeting ID instead of the one you entered in, and then fails.

To resolve this, we will connect up through the web browser itself instead of using the program on your computer - which doesn't use your computer's memory to do so.

Steps to follow

  1. Head to the Zoom website.
  2. Click onto the 'JOIN A MEETING' button near the top right of the website (see image).
  3. Enter in the Meeting ID (Zoom meeting details can be found in your confirmation email you received from us when you registered) and click 'Join'.
  4. The website MAY turn a hue of grey and a small window will pop up to ask you to choose which application to use to use zoom. Click 'Cancel' if this occurs.
  5. Look below the 'Launch Meeting' button to find the words 'Having trouble with Zoom Client? JOIN FROM YOUR BROWSER'. Click 'JOIN FROM YOUR BROWSER'.
  6. You will now have started the web browser of zoom. Allow zoom to use your camera and microphone, and join the meeting after choosing your name.
